With its name meaning “by the sea,” Del Mar is more than just another town by the ocean. Residents here have fallen in love with this picturesque oceanfront community for numerous reasons. Situated just six miles south of Encinitas and 20 miles north of San Diego, Del Mar is an incredibly convenient location. It is home to a population of 4,331 residents and is part of San Diego County.
 
Most notably, the town is known for the famed Del Mar Horse Races and for the San Diego Fair. Nature enthusiasts, and those who love spending time at the beach, will find plenty to do in their free time when living in Del Mar.
 
Immediately at the coast, Powerhouse Park & Beach is a local favorite. Here you can enjoy wide, sandy beaches and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. There is also a picnic area and a playground for the little ones. Minutes away, Seagrove Park is another top oceanfront park. Moving inland, get outdoors for the day at Social Trail Trailhead, Torrey Pines State Reserve Extension, Mar Scenic Trail Trailhead, Crest Canyon Park, and the Crest Canyon Trailhead.
 
There are also a number of fun seasonal events that are held in Del Mar. At select times of the year, you can attend concerts that overlook the ocean at the Del Mar Summer Twilight Concerts. Additionally, get your tickets to events held at the San Diego Fairgrounds and the Del Mar Horse Races.
