Dining, Shopping & Entertainment
Although it isn’t an ultra-bustling part of the San Diego area, Cardiff has earned a reputation for having some excellent places to both shop and eat.
Nestled between Newcastle Avenue and San Elijo Avenue, locals routinely stop by the Cardiff Seaside Market and Cardiff Town Center. At the Cardiff Seaside Market, you’ll enjoy a wide selection of the freshest gourmet groceries in the area. Order fresh seafood, produce, and much more. Blocks away, you can shop at stores such as Patagonia, The Confessional by The Lost Abbey, and Zen Surfboards.
Things to Do
Cardiff is well-known for its ample outdoor spaces, especially along the ocean. Individuals who enjoy spending time basking in the sunny Southern California weather will thrive in this community.
Two of the area’s top attractions include The Cardiff Kook statue and the beachside Cardiff Campgrounds. The Cardiff Kook — also referred to as the “Magic Carpet Ride” statue — is a six-foot bronze depiction of a boy learning to surf. The second top attraction (Cardiff Campgrounds) allows tourists to park their RVs and tents right along the coast.
When living in the area, be sure to plan a day of fun and leisure at San Elijo State Beach. In addition to being home to the Cardiff Campgrounds, you can explore this two-mile stretch of beach on foot, go swimming, surfing, or snorkeling, and take in stunning views of the ocean. Away from the beach, you can spend the day at Glen Park, George Berkich Park, or Cardiff Beach.
